    Fire in Wharton

That cage was there 2 years ago. I could not see anything in it then. I know exactly where you were. I found the stove parts as well. About 85 feet NNW of the coordinates I sent. Before it burnt.

I saw that same spot and assumed the same. It looks like it was on a small trail off of Rairitan.

    Fire in Wharton

I thought that’s what you meant. I drove some of the fire yesterday and noticed the same as you. Most of it didn’t burn very hot. Sometimes I think there’s a misconception that backfires don’t burn as hot as forest fires. I hear it all the time. “Thats a control burn” simply because it didn’t...

    Fire in Wharton

I’m curious. Are you saying where it was burnt good was forest fire and where it didn’t was backfire?

    Fire in Wharton

Also it’s worth noting. That most of the people that I know who also refer to it as California Branch Road are in the FFS. And they may have had a hand in naming the Fire.

    Fire in Wharton

I’ve always known that red line as California Branch Road. It crosses Rairitan at Five Mile Crossing which gets it name from the fact that it’s 5 miles from the center of Atco. I’ve looked for confirmation of the name of the road and branch on many maps but never found it.

    Fire in Wharton

I have heard that area called that by some people. But I have never seen it called that on a map.

    Why is every road

Not sure on the cause. But one of the biggest thing that came out of this tragedy was better radio communications. Now everyone on the foreground is operating on the same frequency. The Incident commander doesn’t have to switch channels to talk to different responders that are on the fire.

I thought for sure that was a tar kiln there. It’s been on my list to explore, just haven’t made it there.

Long Island NY Pine Barrens Fire

The Pine Barrens there burn the same as here. This is early to start having fires. It’s going to be a crazy spring if we don’t get some rain. https://longisland.news12.com/gov-hochul-declares-state-of-emergency-as-fires-burn-on-eastern-long-island

    Pine Barren History Shorts

I found a newspaper article where my grand father’s grand father was arrested along with his brother for possessing a doe and fawn. They were held on $200 bail for each in 1913.

    More About New Road Access

You are probably right. But to stand on that bridge and say that their priority is to improve access to emergency is crazy. If somebody has a medical emergency while hiking out to see the swamp monster it’s not like any emergency service will be able to make it out there in any reasonable...

    More About New Road Access

Directly from the article “The map will enhance safety, improve access to emergency responses and protect the integrity of sensitive habitats, according to the state Department of Environmental Protection. Emergency access is a priority for the DEP in the fire-prone forest.” Fixing that bridge...
