Many times I have stealth camped in the pines and never been bothered. If you go in the winter in a section that is at least a mile from a road in any direction there is not a ranger alive that is going to spend his energy getting to you. Sean:)

My favorite time is right now! Feburary is Pines time for me. Its cold as hell so it makes for great hiking and camping. There are few to no people and the tics are about frozen. SEan

Thanks BEH. I am planning on doing this in the winter to avoid just the sort of thing your talking about! I went moutain biking a couple of days ago and there were ticks everywhere! No bushwacking for me until the temp drops below 40! BTW...what is a savanna? Sean :ninja:
