I put in at Wilson Lake today

I normally do quite well there. The pickerel often save the day when the bass are not hitting well.

    is this a good a gps ?

Just to muddy the waters some more, the Garmin Rino is a great two way radio/GPS comb. I allows you to 'beam' your GPS location to another Rino user. If you hike/hunt/fish with a partner, they are well worth looking at. Even without another Rino user, it has a built in weather radio, alarm...

I put in at Wilson Lake today

I often fish there in my bass boat. I haven't been there in my canoe yet, so I haven't made it very far back. My wife & I were there 4-28-09. Lots of pickerel, and she got a very nice Crappy. No Bass:(

Where are the good places on the rivers

I'm interested in this type of adventure as well. I've been on more lakes in NJ than rivers. Manatico (sp?) Sand Ponds is one such place. Wilson's Lake in Scotland Run Park is another. I was on Makepeace Lake a long time ago. I was there more as a fisherman than explorer. I'd say offering...

    Tent camping?

Thanks for the idea TeeGate. I figure someone will know I'm there when they see a truck parked and left overnight. I don't know how much of a stir this would create. Without having been there, I get the idea the rangers like to know where everyone is.

    Tent camping?

How about hammock camping? I actually joined this forum to learn places near the Philadelphia area to hammock/canoe camp. Hammocks certainly leave less impact on a wilderness camp site than a tent, and with lumpy, wet, or even flat ground not being at issue, it opens up site possibilities...
