ATSION, N.J. - June 27, 2011 (WPVI) -- Fire crews are battling a 170-acre blaze in Burlington County.
As of Monday afternoon, officials tell Action News the fire is 30 percent contained.
The New Jersey Forest Fire Service says the multi-acre fire broke out near the Atsion Ranger Station on Route 206.
Division Warden Bill Edwards said the fire was about 25 acres when it was discovered at about 7:30 a.m. Monday. He said firefighters hoped to have it contained by Monday night.
45 firefighters, three bulldozers, a number of brush trucks and a helicopter are working to control the blaze.
No homes are in danger and fire officials say with no real winds blowing, there is not a threat of it spreading to occupied areas at this time.
The slight wind direction is taking it north into the Wharton State Forest and away from the Ranger station.
The fire site is in southern Burlington County, about 10 miles northeast of Hammonton.
