1931 map

All,

The "State of New Jersey 1931 Official Road Map" I won on ebay is really nice. It measures approx. 18 x 36 and is on heavy paper. It's in pretty good shape. It is yellowed and one crease is worn. It is a beautifully done map and I can't do it justice here so you will have to see it on our next outing.
At the time of the map's printing, the "Hudson River Bridge" (George Washington Br) was still under construction. They paint a very idealistic picture of how it will benefit the traveler. I happened to cross it today. Little did they know the nightmare it has become.

As Renee had pointed out, the cover art is very interesting and it even had a page to help identify road signs and hand signals.

Super-highway principle, huh? I guess in their wildest dreams they couldn't have anticipated modern day population and traffic. Makes me wonder what surprises are in store for us 50 and 70 years down the road that seem impossible now...the ability to demolecularize and remolecularize in another place would be helpful. Maybe there is even a Pine Barrens on some other distant planet, lol!
