These incidents happen at least once a winter up north. The ranger named Kevin Burns was our neighbor when we lived up there; the stories he could tell, and this is a new one. Personally, I find it amazing that these guys & gals can do what they do.

I have climbed at the Gunks, Jenny Jump and Rick's. I have bouldered the Sourlands and left chalk on many big city walls. I even free climbed a few iron railroad trestles, but I have never put an ax into any hanging ice. Ice, especially big ice, has always scared me. There are to many inherent dangers for me.
