On Tuesday i went to revisit and find some more Geodetics and to go Jeepin on some roads that i could not even attempt to ride on with the Taurus.

My first place to visit was on Rt.72 to take some pics of Marker NJ 105 where years ago an old Sonoco stood which was later converted into an Esso Station, the photo came out this time with no problems.

I then left for Dukes Bridge via Rt.563 passing through Chatsworth to Jones Road then Old Tuckerton Road to revisit a Marker that on my last outing i did not find, using Guy's Photo from the NGS website and a compass i found the Marker easily this time. The designation is BC06.

I then traveled to Bear Swamp Hill to look for a Geodetic located there, after probing around for a short time i did not find it, i will try again on my next outing.

I then traveled to find the Azimuth Mark on Sooy Road and after a short search found the Marker.

Taking Sooy Road to Oswego Lake i can now report that the big washout on Sooy Road at the Lake is completely dried up.

It was then time to move on to Friendship to look for that Marker, once again while probing with a tire iron i could not locate it.

Doubling back on Friendship Speedwell Road i traveled to a Road that i have never been on before, Harris Station Road, i wanted to locate a Township Marker and the site of the Pine Crest Gun Club, i immediately saw that at the Jersey Central Crossing looking East that it looks like someone or somebody intentionately cut down trees to stop people from walking the tracks, after a short search i did not find the Marker.

I got back in the Jeep and visited the site of the Pine Crest Gun Club taking the following pic.

Traveling further on the Road my next stop was the Pine Crest Sanitarium built by Dr. William White, Dr. White dug a 70 foot well and the water from the well was supposed to be a cure all for people who visited his abode and bottling plant, a pic of the ruins.

In the immediate area i spotted this buried in the sand, it looks like it supported a column of some sort.

Traveling further on the Road, and i have to say the Road is real wide, you do not have to worry about scratching your vehicle, i then spotted and took a pic of the Apple Pie Hill Fire Tower.

It was then time to call it a day, all in all once again no ticks, no chiggers, and a lack of the nasty Pine Flies, another day of discovery.

Good finds Jim.

A little tip.

And if you read the datasheet closely there is another one up there also. It is well hidden and takes some serious research to find, but all the info you need is there. There was another one and it still may be there, but if so it is covered in a serious layer of dirt. They did some repairs to the hill years ago for what must have been erosion and covered it up. I may have not even been there by then anyway.

Thanks Guy

Your mileage for making a left hand turn from the hill road to the Azimuth Mark were exact as always, i parked the Jeep right at the entry point.

Thanks Jim
