I know this area fairly well.Have crossed this swamp in a couple places but never went the length of it.It's fairly open at canopy level but dense underneath.lotta old corduroy roads crossing it and it"s obviously been logged in the pas.Don"t know why they missed this big mamma.The creek is jumpable in most places and the swamp would definitely be a challenge to negotiate the length of.Its fairly narrow and the open canopy may make the chances of finding this tree on a lengthwise bushwack reasonably possible.be an easier trip in winter.

i forgot to mention.I contacted one of the guys under the tree several years ago and he claimed he forgot the exact location,just that it"s in nixon swamp.I don"t believe him but then again would I trust him if the roles were reversed?Probably not.Hey BEHR and Kendawg ready for another mad ramble after another elusive prize?

should we wait for winter so as to have a better view?Like I said the canopy is pretty open but down on our level it"s a bushwackers challenge.

I would think at least fall but winter is ok too. I've grown rather fond of bushwacking.
