New Jersey fishermen are facing a 40 percent reduction in the amount of black sea bass they will be permitted to catch this year, but the quota for summer flounder is increasing almost 34 percent.
Options on how to use the increased flounder quotas include combinations of a longer season and different size limits. The Marine Fisheries Council’s will discuss the options at its next meeting on April 7 at 4 p.m. at the Galloway Township Branch of the Atlantic County Library at 400 Jimmie Leeds Road.
