In the description it says Small to 2XL so Jessica was interested in the small. However, in the pulldown section the small is missing.

Evidently these clothes are pre-treated with permethrin (doesn't directly say so, but if you click the buyer's guide link, this is what it says). I thought you didn't like permethrin?

Insect repellent
If you don’t like the idea of a spray-down to ward off insects, it’s time you tried a different approach. Clothing is now available pre-treated with an insect repellent called permethrin. It is effective at repelling mosquitoes, ticks and flies, and it lasts for up to 25 washings.

Is the link you posted actually for the bug proof clothes? We need a clarification.

It appears they are treated. It is lame that they don't say that right on the page with the clothes. What is someone has a problem with that chemical and bought the pants.

I don't know - they don't list it in the specs. The link I posted comes from the page you linked to, it is in the bottom right corner, "Buyers Guide" (see below). I am just assuming they're treated with something or they wouldn't call them "bug proof". You should probably check with Cabela's to get definitive info.

My point is the page should say Bugproof Pants with Permethrin.

Seems like something you need to discuss with Cabela's....

But it isn't unusual to find ads for products that don't disclose all the chemicals that are used. An ad for Coca Cola doesn't say what it contains although it should be shown on the label. I would guess that the actual item of clothing has some kind of label with more info as well.

My point is the page should say Bugproof Pants with Permethrin.

LL Bean does and they do not manufacture the product. But Orvis does not make mention of the use of Permethrin. Campmor does depending on the manufacturer of the clothing. Guess it is not a requirement.

http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/6859...io-bugsaway-chas-r-t-shirt-with-insect-shield

"What is Insect Shield?
Insect Shield apparel is designed to provide long-lasting, effective and convenient personal insect protection. The durable protection provided by Insect Shield apparel and gear is the result of years of research and testing.
Insect Shield apparel and gear products combine the patent-pending Insect Shield process with a proprietary formulation of the insect repellent permethrin – resulting in effective, odorless insect protection that lasts the expected lifetime of a garment."

I wrote them about the size error on the page and forgot to ask about the chemical. They got back to me and needed the item number. I guess they can't search in their computer for Bugproof pants.

IMO, the best place to buy is LL Bean. Their warranty cannot be beat and always free shipping. They'll replace anything you buy from them regardless the reason, and they stick to it. I've used it several times, even worn out boots.

"Our products are guaranteed to give 100% satisfaction in every way. Return anything purchased from us at any time if it proves otherwise. We do not want you to have anything from L.L.Bean that is not completely satisfactory."

Personally I never buy any kind of clothes online. I want to see, feel and try an item before purchasing.

I used to be that way, but don't care for clothes store shopping. I haven't been to a local mall in at least a decade. If I need to check something I haven't bought before I might go to the Bean store in Marlton, but would probably just order it. It's just easier for me. But when in Maine, I always try to get to Freeport and the Bean extravaganza stores. :D

Hey, bug proof clothing was my idea! Those copyright bandits stole it! :D

Actually, my idea is better than pre-treated permethrin clothes, but the science for it doesn't exist yet. I want want bug proof clothing that's made out of a material that prevents ticks & chiggers from being able to attach themselves to it. No chemicals involved and, unlike the the bug proof clothing currently being sold by Cabela's, it won't be so tight that you'll be embarrassed if somebody snaps a photo of you in profile.
