Camping with kids - how young is too young?

Hello folks. For those with kids, how young were they the first time you took them camping?

My first camped at just under 3 months old (Bodine Field).

We have another one due on May, planning on taking him on the family camping vacation in August.

I realize that I'm probably crazy, just trying to judge how crazy I am. :D

Congratulations! I dont remember how young I was my first camping trip, but I imagine just a few months old. Our first is due in July and Im hoping to get up to the Adirondacks late August/early September. That usually means at least a night or two in a tent somewhere, but again, this is our first so Im probably in for a rude awakening.

Congrats!

1 1/2 months isn't terrible. What are they going to do, run away? At that age, they pretty much roll with it. Feed them, change their diapers, and keep them the right temperature, and they are for the most part happy.

Thanks. Im actually more concerned about flying the little one to California in October for my sister's wedding. There's no where to run if things get hectic on the plane, lol.

If your wife is planning on breastfeeding, hold off until the plane is getting ready to take off and make its final descent (might work the same with a bottle, didn't have a chance to try it). Best advice we ever got. Keeps their ears popping and keeps them happy. When we landed in Newark (7 hour flight), the lady in front of us stood up and said she had no idea there was a baby behind her.

It doesn't get bad until they want to get up and run. EVERYONE on the Strasbourg Railroad knew there was a baby on board when we went there, because he wanted to follow the Civil War soldier up and down the aisle. Thank Crites that was only a half hour, people on a plane would have thrown us off it.

Thanks for the friendly advice and I will definately let the wife know to do so. Best wishes to you, your family, and the new baby.
