All,

Jessica and I did some exploring and walked 3 miles in the woods near Howardsville this morning, and on our way out we came upon an International Scout stuck in the lake just off the road to the FRM. We arrived as a vehicle was trying to pull him out.

That wasn't working and the vehicle was overheating, so they tried the Scout pull Scout approach.

Again futile, so they tried the Scout, pull Scout, pull Scout approach.

Yet again futile, so they decided to pull from the back. In order to do that someone had to connect the two together, and as expected the driver of the stuck vehicle was utilized. Apparently, he did not want to get his pants wet, so he discarded them before entering the drink. That brought about a few interesting comments from the crowd, which he took quite well, but then again he had no choice, he was stuck. BTW, that is his girlfriend in the vehicle.

This time they were successful, and you can see what one man said was a cable spool that had him hung up. From past experiences I have found Scout's to be quite good at getting out of tough spots, so it was no surprise to me that he was hung up.

He decided to do a victory lap around the lake, and you can guess what happened next.

Those are the kind of people that give innocent people with 4 wheel drive trucks a bad name. They go out and purposely drive in the water that was not in their way of getting somewhere. If you are out there specifically to beat the heck out of your truck and drive in places where you shouldn't, then you shouldn't be out there in the first place. Stick to the roads!
Just my opinions.

exactly Barry, theirs enough potential places to get stuck in the barrens getting from point A to B you don"t need to be out in the middle of a bog tearing up prime wildlife habitat. You wanna play find yourself a gravel pit with a mudhole in the bottom and tear your truck up.I personally don"t make enough money or have the mechanical knowledge to purposely tear my only vehicle up.my brother neither works regular or is a mechanic but since he's the baby (16 years my junior) and dads a decent wrench and mom forks up the bucks for parts he's at liberty to tear up vehicle after vehicle, must be nice,no that wasn"t his truck but it looked like something he"d of done.

Barry,
Remember that bridge near the cedar swamp we went over on the Batona looking for the tracks that day, headed from 563 toward Buttonwood Camp--less than a half hour hike or so from the large stand of pixie?
I hiked over it today, and I feel sorry for anyone who tries to cross that bridge without knowing it---the entire last planking was ripped off, leaving a number of steel pins exposed--but if you're coming from the other direction you won't know it until it's too late. Not 100 feet down the road was the remnants of a tire that apparently got caught in one of the steel pins.
