County updates goals for land preservation

Best everyone buy a small piece of the Pine Barrens before it's too late.

Once all the land is in the states hands. We will be prevented from enjoying it freely as we now do.

Just my opinion of course.

I don't think that program will put anything in the "state's hands". Instead, they will basically pay large farm owners not to sell their land to developers. We've discussed this here in the past, and I have mixed feelings. It does prevent farms from being subdivided and turned into housing developments, but it also pays wealthy landowners not to sell property which they had no intention to sell anyway. I've read about ways this has been abused in the past, where it has been used as compensation for political favors.
