Spent today roamin' by car and booted foot in the Pines with Ro and neighbor Lori Cronin - Batsto River savannahs, Quaker Bridge, Lower Forge, Hampton Furnace, Carranza Memorial, Friendship, Speedwell, Chatsworth, home. Lots of sand trail miles, pines, cedars, bushes, rare orchids and other plants, bounding deer, quaking bogs, etc., etc. Wonderful (literally) day.

Sounds like a great one Johnnny! Retirement must be the best thing ever.

PS: Was Lori familiar with the depth and beauty of the pines before you moved in?

Nice! The past two days have been just beautiful, about 80 degrees, low humidity, nice breeze. What more could you ask for (other than no chiggers)? :)

Lori's newer in Seizuretowne than we are, came from Medford and before that CT. She raises orchids, including one lil beauty that's smaller than Listera australis. She's also taking Russell Juelg's great Pines botany course, and has had many a "Wow!!" day with us and in Russell's weekend field trips in the Pines . (Plug for joining his '14 class.)
Knock on wood: nary a chigger or tick bite for me so far.

P.S.
My old work buddy Tommy Rovito said it best when asked what retirement was like when the rest of us were still in the grind: "Retirement is 6 Saturdays and one Sunday each week."
