However, there has been no increase of officers on patrol at any given time, which implies that officers still will be unable to effectively cover the hundreds of miles of roads left open by the DEP

I think the problem was we were not seeing the park police in the problem locations and as a few posts have mentioned recently we now are. That to me is an improvement. Maybe not perfect ... but an improvement. For it to be perfect the public will have to come to grips on how their tax many is used and wasted and how to get the governor to find ways of getting that wasted money to our state parks.
