Went down to Double Trouble yesterday to see what I could find. Saw lots of the norms, green frogs, leopard frogs, fence swifts, deer(tons), blue herons, red tailed hawks, vultures. However the find of the day for me was a baby box turtle he appeared to be about 2-3weeks old. With the winter coming soon I hope this guy makes it. I was half tempted to take him home and headstart him but since I'm not a biologist, and never take anything home with me and critisize others who do, I didn't. Hope the little guy makes it though, only the second hatchling I've ever found.

Also found a fence swift how was very friendly and let me pet him(looks like someone got his tail). And some pictures of frogs(leopard and greens)

I guess when you are too friendly, you loose a tail :)

Thanks for the turtle photo's. My favorite living thing to find.

I got out saturday as well to a pond i just began checking out (if you remember i found my green snake there)

I found:
8 Northern Water snakes
1 Eastern Garter snake

+ Redbelly turtles
+ E.painted turtles
2 Red eared sliders
2 Eastern box turtles
1 common snapping turtle

+ bullfrogs
+ greenfrogs

Not bad of a day at all!!! The water snakes here at Patcong lake are much easier to catch then at Birch Grove. The water is only about 1-2 feet deep in the far back of the pond, and you basically walk around a pick up the snakes with ease. (Of coarse the water snakes still try biting the hell out of you).
I'm going back Thursday and Saturday. Pics will be up soon!!
