I was told today that NJ Fish and Wildlife has plans on building fish ladders at Batsto and at Lake Lenape.
Anyone have anymore info?

What kind of info are youlooking for? They have one installed at the outlet of Lake Shenandoah in Lakewood.

What kind of fish are they being built for? When? Anything of interest.

Same fish as the delaware, Shad to name one. Penna installed one around ten years ago from the Delaware into the Lehigh to re-establish that river. I know the Hudson and other alantic rivers are attempting to do so too.

Fish Ladders

Here is the NJDEP press release from this week about the proposed fish ladder at Batsto.
There was also an article in the AC Press this week about the actual construction of the ladder having to match the rustic character of Batsto Village.
The stages in the ladder are going to be constructed using wood and/or wood trim .

If I find the AC Press article I'll post that too.
Found it. Here it is.

Fish ladder

The NJ news covered the fish ladder story. Before the damn at Batsto was built 200-300 years ago, shad and white herring would travel up the river. The biggest bonus expected is an increase in birds of prey that feed on the fish.
