There's a similar free plot policy in the Fishtown part of Philadelphia -- or at least I think it was Fishtown, I'll have to check that out. I remember reading an article about it once, and how they don't really have a particularly accurate idea of how many people are buried there and where they are buried, etc. So, when someone new wishes to have their loved one buried in that cemetery, there's a guy with a 7' pole that pokes into the ground until he doesn't hit something to find a spot. I wish I could remember where I read that article, because it was really interesting. Maybe the Philadelphia Weekly? It was definitely in one of those free papers that they have at Patco stations.
