Yes that is an obscene amount of water to use for that. That's not where I work. I work here:
http://www.seaviewgolf.com/ It's a very old property with 2 courses. In the heat of summer, especially in years past when there were no water restrictions, they were using 350,000 gallons per night on one course and 500,000 gallons per night on the other course. I can't remember what our water permit is, but it's for a much larger amount than 16 million. I'm pretty sure.
Sea Oaks is practically brand new. I think it was completed last year or something. Keith, the former co-worker that explores with me sometimes, works there now.
This extreme water use is
just one of the big problems I have with golf courses.

Barry, there is an article in the PPA newsletter (Pinelands watch) about Sea Oaks Golf Course. Seems they were pumping over 16 million gallons of water a month onto the course to keep it green even when 40 local wells were dry during the drought last year. AND, they recently asked to increase that to 21 million gallons of water a month.
That's a bit much. Is that where you work? That is an obscene amount of water to use just so the greens are green.
