Not to hijack Virgos earlier post, but it got me thinking. Are chiggers more of a pest now than they were in the past? As a kid, I spent my share of time in the pines. Ticks were always there, but I never remember getting chiggers like I do now.
My most recent attempt to thwart the buggers is to wear shorts & soak my legs in bug spray. It actually worked to a point - very few of 'em got up under my shorts (whereas at the same site a few weeks earlier, wearing pants, they feasted on me). Unfortunately, they realized I had not sprayed my feet before putting on sox, so they all went there!
