Back on July 30th, 2025 Manchester EMS was dispatched to Hidden Lake located in the Whiting Section of Manchester Township for a report of a 16- year- old male patient unconscious in the water post fall from a rope swing. Manchester EMS Med 11 arrived on location, staffed by both EMTs Dahlgren and Frederick, due to the remote terrain, Med 11 and a Manchester Police utilized a 4x4 patrol vehicle to get as close to the lake as possible and then carried medical supplies & extrication equipment the rest of the way. Upon arrival at the patient's side both EMTs along with a patrol officer quickly descended down a 30-foot embankment to the victim. The victim was quickly treated and crews utilized a reeves and water rescue rope to complete a low angle rope rescue up the embankment to a waiting 4x4 emergency vehicle operated by Whiting Fire Department. Med 11 along with RWJBH Paramedics secured the patient's airway and was transported to the landing zone where the victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center Trauma Unit. The victim was ultimately treated and released from the hospital a few days later. The quick actions of EMTs Dahlgren & Frederick, along with Manchester Patrol Officers, with the assistance of Whiting Fire Department, and RWJBH Paramedics played a critical role in the successful outcome of this call.
