Huge tortoises seized from Highlands home, taken to zoo in Lacey

My wife has always wanted a Sulcata but I told her we have to move to Florida first.The climate around here will not do these guys justice either.Their okay in the summer but they have to be outdoors to be happy and they know nothing of hibernation.I didn't even think Aldabras were legal to keep.

A long, long time ago when I was a kid, our family vacationed in the Adirondacks. Up near Santa's Workshop in Wilmington was another roadside attraction run by a family. They had pens where they kept many giant tortoises, they were huge, and offered rides on them to kids. My sister and I always wanted to go there but our parents would not allow it. Thinking back, that had to be one of the cruelest things for those animals.
The Popcorn Park Zoo has seen quite a few new addtions this year; from the cougars , lions and tigers, to giant tortoises. Pretty amazing what some folks consider a pet.
