All,
I had a busy day today in the pines and elsewhere, and I posted about my early morning adventure in a separate post. From there Jessica and I traveled through Lebanon and saw the hunters lining the road like lemmings waiting for the drivers to push the deer to them so they could shoot them along the road.
From there we traveled over to Reevestown Cemetery near Warren Grove and visited the grave of John Bowers. If you have a copy of the January 1974 National Geographic you can read about him in the excellent article on the people of the pine barrens written by John McPhee. Fred Brown who you may remember in John McPhee's book "The Pine Barrens", visited John Bowers grave often and poured whiskey on the grave because he was asked to by Mr. Bowers when his death did occur.

We then decided to head down to the Barnegat Lighthouse where we found it open and we climbed to the top.

From there we headed back toward home and for the second time noticed that there are many more water testing pipes that have very recently been added to various area's of the pines. The wood frames for the cement are still like new. Today we saw one in Labanon and one in the fenced in area of the chemical dump off of 72.

I went home for a few hours and my wife agreed to travel back to the pines with us and we visited Lovers Lane in Green Bank and saw over 25 deer lining the road. From there we went to Apple Pie Hill as the sun was setting in the clouds.
What a trash heap that place is anymore! Someone this time threw an air conditioner off the tower, along with two bicycles, and multiple other electronic equipment. There was even two dead deer right there on the top of the hill that some hunter had just left there.
Don't click on this link if you do not want to see them. My wife took this photo.
