All,

I took today off from work to kayak from Quaker Bridge to Batsto with Jessica and a man I work with. As you know it was raining hard, and we arrived at Quaker Bridge at 8:45 to a river that was running quite well. Within the first 10 minutes there, I passed what unbelievably must have been a breast of chicken floating down the river. That sounds odd, but it was most certainly a piece of chicken.

Rob was behind me, and in the process of trying to pull it to him, he tumbled into the river. The chicken was forgotten why we flipped the kayak onto mine to drain the water out. Luckily his camera did not get wet.

For the first two hours it rained quite hard, and all three of us were shivering while we ate lunch. But by the time we finished lunch the sun was out.

We poked around in quite a few interesting swamp since the current had us ahead of schedule, and found some interesting plants. Before long we were at Batsto lake.

Sounds like you had a good time although a little wet. Those kayaks look brand new. Where they?

Steve

No, but they were newer than others I have used. But they didn't have the little foot rests that I have had with other kayaks that are adjustable. They give you stability and keep your ankles from getting stiff. No matter...we still had a great time.
