In accordance with N.J.S.A. 13:1D-51 through -58, the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection, Green Acres Program and Division of Fish and Wildlife, will hold two public hearings to seek comments on a proposed exchange of property with the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc. in Jackson Township, Ocean County and Upper Freehold Township, Monmouth County. The NJDEP is proposing to transfer approximately 43.05 acres of land it owns in Jackson Township, Ocean County to the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club (the Club) in exchange for approximately 86.8 acres of land owned by the Club in Upper Freehold Township, Monmouth County. The DEP property is currently part of the Colliers Mills Wildlife Management Area and a portion of it has been affected by the accumulation of lead discharge at an adjacent shooting range operated by the Club. The proposed exchange of property would remove the affected land from NJDEP ownership and create a buffer area between the range and the WMA to ensure the safety of the public. Two public hearings on the proposed land exchange will be conducted. The first public hearing will be conducted by the NJDEP and will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. The second public hearing on the proposed land exchange will be conducted jointly by the NJDEP and the State House Commission and will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Due to the current State of Public Health Emergency, the hearings will be conducted remotely via Microsoft Teams. Members of the public may participate in the hearings via video conference or by telephone. Instructions for participating in the hearings, as well as the public hearing notice, how to submit written comments and a copy of a report analyzing the proposed exchange can be found at: http://www.nj.gov/dep/greenacres/notices.html.
