I mentioned this awhile ago in another thread but following today's update, I think it's ready for its own thread. This is a very simple little app that displays the current National Weather Service radar for the continental United States. Unlike the radar map in the main boydsmaps app, this site automatically updates every three minutes. So, you can just leave it open and see the current radar imagery.

It has also been a testbed for some new software I've developed that can stream geodata in realtime as you drag the map around. This link should open the map centered on Medford Lakes, for example. If you drag it around slowly you'll see the data update whenever you cross a boundary between towns (there are ~78,000 US towns in the dataset). This didn't work properly in the older version, it would frequently give wildly wrong results. It's been completely re-written since then and appears to be pretty robust now. Let me know if you have any problems. When you first open a link, it takes a couple seconds to initially display the location.

The resolution of the geodata varies depending on zoom level, up to a maximum of 19 meters (~62 feet) if you zoom in a few more clicks

Stay tuned... I'm working on a new app that uses the same technique to access a whole wealth of data about the Pines (at 1-meter resolution) and display it in realtime with any map you choose.
