Has anyone ever been to the Pine Barrens on Long Island, NY? I've been reading about it online.

In all the material online I've seen White Cedars mentioned a little bit, but I can't tell for sure if they have any cedar swamps there. I'm very curious. Atlantic White Cedar seems to be a protected plant species in NY State. Actually I think Prickly Pear Cactus is too. I'm also curious if there was ever a bog iron industry there at one time in the past.
That Pine Barrens covers about a tenth of the ground that ours covers, but it appears to be very similar, and they even have a dwarf pine plains area, although it's a bit different than ours, apparently.
I think it would make a neat road trip, but it's quite a drive from down here, not to mention the fact you need to drive through New York City to get to Long Island.
