I'm looking for info on sightings of pickerel frogs (especially adults!) within the Pine Barrens, especially the core Pine Barrens. Would you mind sharing info if you've seen them? Exact locations are not necessary if there is concern about sensitive areas.
My reasoning in short; I'm wondering how reliable of an indicator that their presence is of an increased pH in wetlands. I've found some articles that state that they are intolerant of a pH below about 4.5 and prefer above 5, but of course I have found articles that contradict that. I'd much rather have direct experiences from people who have seen them. For the record, I've only seen one within the Pine Barrens proper and it was on the Northwestern edge about 1/2 mile from the transition into inner coastal plain.
