Another storm that isn't doing very much down south. We had almost nothing until around 3:30 PM, but there's been a steady light rain since then. I was driving down Hunters Mill Rd earlier today and sun actually came out for awhile. But I can see that some of you are getting hammered from the radar.

It has been raining hard here since about 2AM this morning until an hour ago. One rumble of thunder shook my house. I went to my moms in Marlton this afternoon in the pouring rain, and it was hardly raining there. As soon as we left Marlton the rain returned and it was flooded all the way home on 295. We saw a nice spinout into the guardrail.

There was really quite a range of rainfall within our little state. I got very little rain at all yesterday - I am on the edge of .25" zone here. Some of you got 3 or 4 inches while parts of the southern shore got basically nothing: http://water.weather.gov/precip/ind...meMM=8&timeDD=14&product=observed&loc=stateNJ

I left my wheelbarrow in the middle of the yard last night for a makeshift rain gauge and it had over 2" water in it this morning. Looks like some people really got hammered last night, with 8" rain - wow: http://water.weather.gov/precip/ind...meMM=8&timeDD=15&product=observed&loc=stateNJ

Beautiful sunny and clear here for a couple hours this morning, but now getting darker with thunder. This rain is supposed to be with us through Tuesday night.

We got crushed in western Cumberland County. Unofficially, I heard between 10 and 11 inches. Several closed roads; it's a challenge getting around.

Wow Whippoorbill, those photos are incredible. I was just checking around online at the USGS gauges and the Maurice River gauge is off the charts right now. Great Egg Harbor is also pretty high as well taking on all the flooding that Collins Lakes and Hammonton got.

Me and a couple friends were driving home from Philly on Sunday around 3 or 4 and several parts of Rt. 42 were flooded pretty good but the traffic was still plowing through. We got off on the Blackwood exit and the creek right next to where the Expressway and the Black Horse Pike split at Sicklerville Rd. was really flooded. A Mercedes and an Audi were already stuck in the water but several trucks were still snaking there way through. The guy in the Mercedes opened his car door right as a pickup came by and the truck's wake just filled the whole inside of the car. We went through it in my Element and we had the water come up over the hood from the wake of another passing truck. Incredible. I might head home today and check a couple of the bridges by the Great Egg Harbor river just to see for myself.

Took the long way home today to check out the Great Egg Harbor River. It wasn't over the Black Horse Pike crossing but it was close. There were cones placed so I'm guessing the level had gone down a little bit. I didn't get to check Weymouth. 8th Ave and Mays Landing Rd. were both closed and I could see the water over 8th St. The water was splashing into the bottom of the Rt. 54 bridge and the entire woods was flooded north of that road. 14th St. bridge was also closed. Piney Hollow was open and the water appeared to be flowing along well, although quite high. The Blue Hole crossing looked crazy and the high water was really something to look at if anyone knows what the usual level looks like. Winslow Williamstown Rd. was open and looked fine. The dam at New Brooklyn looked crazy and you could barely even tell there was a dam there if it wasn't for the high V-shaped walls at either side.

Things looked crazy for sure.

I went for a hike in Belcoville (Estell Manor Park) this afternoon, but didn't go all the way to the river. I was a bit surprised, however, that the swamps in the park were still quite dry. I live nearby, with Stephen Creek flowing through my property. Water levels are certainly higher than they were before the storm, but still way below what they were at the beginning of the summer. We have some more catching up to do here.

We got some more rain today, and I'd guess the total from the last three days was about 5" at my place. But if you look at those NWS maps I posted, you can see that rainfall varied considerably across the region.
