Makepeace lake WMA

I found myself near Makepeace lake the other day and it occured to me that I have done very little exploring south of the AC expressway. I thought I would do a little poking around in this region and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts/suggestions on areas of pinelands interest in the Makepeace lake WMA or Winslow WMA or anywhere in this area. I have been to the blue hole and Weymouth Furnance. Also, has anybody ever fished Makepeace lake? Any good? Additionally, what are those huge sandy areas I saw on the satillite photos just west of the lake, across 623. Are they working sand pits? abandoned?

I hear the Makepeace is a haven for pickerel. I'm not sure what sandy hills you refer to, or what their significance is.

I made it to Makepeace lake yesterday (Sat). I will post a report on it under the get togethers, trips section.

If Makepeace Lake is a haven for pickerel you can bet I'll be there. When I went Saturday there were a few people fishing.
