Just saw post of Sept 2015 noting death of Mary Ann Thompson. I knew her very well years ago, helping her with the Chatsworth Cranberry Festival. She was a very intelligent erudite woman with a fascinating personality. I am so sad to learn of her passing. I cannot find anything about her death online. Does anyone have any further info?

I don't remember an obituary or someone would have posted it I suspect. I have also looked and could not find one.

In any event, I believe it was nieces and nephews who had the responsibility of everything and they have sold off portions of her property. Some of her cranberry bogs are in good hands and are producing as one would hope.

Mary Ann meant a lot to many participants to this site, and is dearly missed. She was a mentor to my daughter, who wrote a tribute in SoJourn: A Journal Devoted to the History, Culture, and Geography of South Jersey—Demitroff (2016: 89, "Mary Ann and the Cranberry Farm, a Transformative Experience").

A memorial service was held in her honor at Arney's Mount Friends Meetinghouse on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 2:00 PM. It was well attended, and a very touching gathering of many of her friends.
