Storytelling about Life Along the Bayshore
Lenapi: The First Users of the Delaware Bay Region
Bridgeton, NJâ€â€If you are interested in Delaware Bayshore history that
dates back 8,000 to 10,000 years ago, mark your calendar for Tuesday,
May 11,
2004, 7 to 9 p.m.
The Bayshore Discovery Project is continuing its series on storytelling
focusing on the history of the Delaware Bay region. This storytelling
session focuses on the
first users of the Delaware Bay region, the native Americans known as
the Lenapes.
It will take place in the Woodruff Museum which houses a magnificent
collection of Lenape artifacts from Cumberland County. The Woodruff
Museum is located
in the Bridgeton Library, 150 E. Commerce Street, Bridgeton, NJ.
Members of the Nanticoke-Lenni Lenape tribe, dressed in traditional
regalia, will share their remarkable story. In addition to the Woodruff
collection, the
Nanticoke-Lenni Lenape tribe will display its unique collection of
artifacts and ceremonial items.
There will be as short membership meeting of the Bayshore Discovery
Project prior to the storytelling. For more information or directions,
