Just saw this come across my news feed. McGuire Air Force Base was put on lockdown at 11am this morning. I wonder what this is all about? Active shooter?

False alarm, fortunately....

"Emergency personnel responded to reports of an active shooter at JB MDL on Tuesday, Sept. 30, around 11 a.m. A high ranking law enforcement source told NBC News' Jonathan Dienst that a training exercise was occurring at the base and witnesses heard gunshots. They then called 911 which led to the lockdown and personnel at the base were told to immediately seek shelter. Law enforcement officials arrived at the base and confirmed there was no active shooter threat. The lockdown was lifted and the base resumed normal operations at 11:57 a.m."

Glad it was a false alarm. When I heard the base was on lockdown my first thought was, “Oh no, another crazy shooting people.”

Look at the timestamp on your first post (11:56 AM), then see the quote from the article. The lockdown ended one minute after you posted!

If true, there may be a lot more to this story. Wow....

Malika Brittingham, who works for the U.S. Navy, wanted to prompt a police response that she expected to create closer ties with her coworkers, according to an affidavit filed with a criminal complaint. "Brittingham explained that she carried out this hoax because she had been ostracized by her coworkers and hoped that their shared experience in response to an active shooter would allow them to ‘trauma bond,'" the complaint said.
