Among the successful hunters was 12-year-old Danielle Chesney of Island Pond. She shot a 540-pound cow Wednesday, October 22, in Avery’s Gore, guided by her grandfather Ron Chesney. An experienced small game hunter, it was Danielle’s first experience taking big game.
"Didn’t know how she was going to handle it, but she was ecstatic," said Mr. Chesney. "She’s holding up a tradition."
