Mowing

Today we came north on South Park Road from Route 532. South of the farmstead on the east side of the road, both shoulders had been mowed very close to the ground for quite some distance.
Why????
We were looking to see what might be coming up at a couple of wet spots, but they'd been mowed flat.
Wonder who did it?
Who to contact and ask to hold off mowing until after plants have set seed?

You are a man after me own heart Johnny me boy! I love those little growing spots in out of the way places. Makes life very interesting and each one is unique.

There is a "best practices" manual for roadside maintenence that is directed for protection of native plants, and I believe Burlington County promisted to follow it. See here:

Check to see if they violated anything in there. It's well done and very extensive. You can make good suggestions too.

Yes they did Bob, I checked the "No Mow" area outside of Whitesbog last week and saw that they had mowed it. I'm going to call DEP again to see what they (or I) can do.
