Saw this dude chillin' with his buddies on the Cooper River yesterday.
What kind is it?

A rather old/dirty redbelly. They (like most turtles) tend to get more melanistic as they get older.

Bob is right. However, you are probably use to seeing red bellies from the pines. The clean cedar water makes them very beautiful and algae free. What your seeing there is your classic polluted version of the redbelly. The cedar water tends to make them even more red.
