I live 90 miles NE of Batsto Village. There is a haze in the air and the smell of smoke is strong. The smoke is being reported as far north as Greenwich Village in NYC!

Al, I have been trying to find the same thing and am getting nowhere. I've even been all over the NJFFS web pages.

It was in the area yesterday, It is the Jemima Mt. Devious Mt area. I didnt make it to Mount to see if it was there, got pushed back by the FFS. Not sure if it made it to Tuckerton Rd either. I left shortly after seeing how quickly it was moving and the area it covered.

I just read about this in another forum. Some guy up in Middlesex was commenting about air quality. While it was very windy yesterday, it's also been very wet. I'm sort of surprised that this happened now.

His finger is on Jemima Mount. There goes my geocache. That's a rough area to get around with all the deep puddles and ruts.

The smoke from this fire blanketed Mercer county this morning and I actually saw it as far as Plainsboro. I couldn't believe it was Wharton. I thought it was a local brush fire.

I don't understand the urgency for putting this fire out........ It's not in an area near any homes........ If it is where I understand it to be, it is in an area that needs to be cleaned out of lots of kindling and underbrush. I can understand the urgency to contain it, but not for putting it out. Am I wrong?
