northern lights

Saw them once down here; spent a cold evening on a dock on the Toms River, got some so-so pix. Saw them several times when up in the Adirondacks. The plains with a view north would be the place to be.

The Perseid shower is supposed to be a good one this year, 8/12-14.
 
I saw them a few times while living in upstate NY and it is quite an experience. Makes you think your eyes are playing tricks on you. I was reading about this myself the other day, but doubt that the sky will be dark enough to see the effect in most of our area.
