Great article! Thanks for sharing. 8 or so years ago, I had the pleasure of installing & servicing sewer pumps for the Village of Grassy Sound. It was always a treat to finish up at the end of the day, & one of the old timers would invite me into his home, have a few beers, listen to stories & look at photo's of the storms mentioned above. All of those old salt's were a living history lesson. Any of them could've been the subject of an old Jimmy Buffett song. That was thee hidden gem in that job.

What a reminder. Growing up, my Dad owned a hotel and restaurant in Wildwood. Naturally, our summers would be "down the shore." I would crab in Grassy Sound but we would hitch hike to the Cape May area to fish. The fish were plentful from the surf or on the Delaware bay side. That was a peaceful time, in a different age.
