One more post about Oswego then I promise I'll post something different. Our canoe is going either the sat after easter or two sat after easter. We plan to touch water by 7:00-7:30. That should be early enough to beat the crowds. Right? Does Oswego push like Batsto does. Meaning you really don't need to know where you are going. You just have to know when to stop. thanks again for all your replies. They have been incredibly helpful.

The earlier the better, but you will probably be okay. I don't recall the oswego being quite as strong as the Basto. It is definitely novice friendly, there are a few feeders that can make it a little confusing but not too bad, just follow the strongest current. If you can manage to be quiet, you have a good chance of spotting blue herons. There is a book-Canoeing the Jersey Pine barrens by Parnes. It is carried by most of the liveries. You might find it beneficial.

7AM is a good time. It is so peaceful and quiet then. Enjoy!

Make sure you stop in at some of the swampy areas and check out the flowers. Not many yet but they are starting.

Our friend Mike Baker has a "What's blooming now" page to help you out.
