ORVs as recreation. A pinebarrens tradition? Yes or no?

Not sure if you mean in the past or as an evolving present?

I guess I mean as an evolving present. ORV as recreation probably started in the pines in the late 50's(approx. ) and escalated through the 60's, maybe peaked in the 70's and continues today. The question is, has it reached a tradition status yet, like the fox hunt?
Maybe this is too vague a question.
