Oswego River????

This is definetly the last post about Oswego. Except maybe another one when I get back.
Fact - This will be my cousin and I second canoe trip. Oswego will push you along just like Batsto. Right?
We are going to take our time. Probably get in the water at 7:30. Will it take us more than 4.5 hours(Lake to harrisville) Are there any real wide spots other than Martha or Harrisville.
I will be bringing my wife's digital so pics will be brought back. I have an old fashioned "picture taker"

You must not have read my other post. In high water the Oswego moves very fast. There are many strainers, fallen trees etc., across the water that can trap you and be potentially dangerous. The force of the water can push you sideways against the blockage and swamp you, sucking you under. It can be a very dangerous situation. Life jackets are recommended.
If you go be careful and have fun.

I was out in my kayak on a few local rivers yesterday and the levels seem to be quickly dropping back to normal. I assume the pine barrens rivers bounce back faster because the less-developed watersheds release water into the rivers more gradually than the asphalt jungles to the north of us do. In any case, Steve's advice is wise. For some, wearing a PFD isn't "macho", but it's too late to try and get into one once you need it. Almost all drownings involve lack of wearing PFDs.

Both Steve's and GermanG's advice could not be stressed more,even if you are an excellant swimmer,please wear a pfd,i would also recommend a change of clothes in a dry bag.

If your first trip was the Batsto, yes the Oswego is much faster. Follow all of the above advice, plus the dry clothing. Sorry to repeat, but having canoed both, the speed of Oswego can catch you off guard. The section above Martha pond is about the prettiest spot in the pines (IMO). Enjoy!

REPORT NO PICS YET My computer has been down.

I'm at my parents house taking lunch. I haven't had time at lunch to post the pics. The trip was incredible. The weather out of this world. So many great things including the low water at Martha's. It took us seven hours because we stopped about five times. Treked to the cranberry bogs. We almost tipped once. My cousin lost his paddle twice. We got it back both times. It was fast moving for us rookies. I will post more about the trip when I put the pics up.
