Could someone tell me where the starting and ending point of Pancoast Road was? Also, are there sections of it that still exist east of the Garden State Parkway?

I know about the part from Route 554 to Garden State Parkway. I just wondered where it went after it intersects the parkway.

I've also seen a street sign a bit behind Lucille's that is named Pancoast. I'm assuming that is the same road. But is that walkable?

You can see the part that is East of the Parkway on the USGS 24k topo here: http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.7803764086366&lng=-74.22191619873047&z=15&type=topo&gpx=

Now just drag the map to the West and you can follow that same road all the way to Warren Grove. Although it isn't labeled on the topo, it is shown on the regular Google Map between Rt 72 and Warren Grove: http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.753195062769905&lng=-74.32903289794922&z=14&type=m&gpx=

I'm sure somebody else can answer whether it's walkable, I have not been out there for years myself.

I can vouch that the part between warren grove and mill creek is walkable and it was driveable when i was there maybe five years ago.it turns to dirt right about where the topo shows and i followed it as far as mill creek.

Many places I've passed thru over the years has had a sign for a Pancoast Rd. Are they all the same road? Maybe. There is a Pancoast Rd smack dab in the middle of a very large gated retirement community.

There are a number of other roads named Pancoast in South Jersey, including Riverside, Woolwich, Moorestown, Mullica Hill, Salem and Buena Vista. Maybe Jerseyman will stop by and enlighten us as to who or what Pancoast refers to. :)

I know one definition is of a form of cancer tumor, named after Joseph Pancoast; a surgeon from Burlington County. I guess some might consider a road a cancerous tumor, that soon forms strip malls and their ilk.

About 30 years ago, I was searching for my first home. Iturned into Pancoast Road at Lucilles and drove back to the last home on the right in Warren Grove as you head east. There was an older home there on 1 acre(?) with a for sale sign. It was red, and neat as a pin. I knocked on the door and was invited in by a pleasant Old World couple who were originally from England. We sat around their kitchen table covered with lace and they offered me butter cookies and tea. It was somewhat surreal. The home was $44,000...lock, stock, and barrel. I don't remember why I turned it down. I think it was the age....but that is a nice memory I keep in the back of my mind.

The Pancoast Rd in Buena Vista is actually Pancoast Mill Rd... and is associated with the nearby Pancoast Mill Lake, and the mill that was once there. Owned by Ambrose Pancoast. His wife was Rebecca and he apparently helped fund the nearby Friendship M.E. Church. They are both buried there.

I just assumed Pancoast was a old time south Jersey surname, but I've never known anybody with the name.

Al is correct. However, I would suggest you walk it. I traveled that road on foot in 2003 and 2007 and it was walkable. There actually were phone boxes spaced out along the route so I assume at one time there was a plan to build in that area. The wires were all sticking out of them.
