It rained last Sunday but i decided to go to a place that i have not been to since the late 70's, on the way to Penn Place and while on Sooy Place Road and Powell Place Road i took my first pic of the day.

While on the way to Penn Place i then decided to go to Harrisville Lake around the john to look for any remnants of the Wading River Forge and Slitting Mill, it started to rain real hard, i then proceeded to stage road to view the site of where French's Tavern or the Red Tavern was located, here is the site. The rain had stopped when i arrived here.

Time now to go to Penn Place, going past Oswego Lake i took the next pic on the right hand side of Jenkins Road of this foundation.

I left the area arriving shortly at Penn Place, taking the following pics. First is of a mound area.

Another Tuckerton Road ?

I went to the Tabernacle Town Hall calling George (Largo) asking him if he wanted to meet me at the Pic for some refresments, we met about a half hour later, he showed me alot of great photos he had, we chatted up about the pines, then it was time to go home, of course i bought 25 smoker wings to eat when i arrived home.

All in all it was raining alot that day, i had to constantly wipe the camera lens off, but it was another great day in the pines. The sand roads were not in that bad of a shape either.

Did that car look abandoned or was it just parked like that?

It was abandoned, the passenger side front bumper and hood was smashed up real good, the person was either driving too fast on the road, the conditions were not good, puddles and i will say muddied, i went back the next day and it was gone. The person could have been intoxicated also.

What's the story with another Tuckerton Road ?

Also that Tavern on Sooy Place Roads is shown on the 1858 map of Burlington County that you posted a while back.

Jim,
Glad to finally see the pics from the day. It is easy to see how you managed to get yourself so damp that day. An afternoon spent well. Good speaking with you over a few beers as well.
