Recently came upon the concept of the above as a solid 'genre' in short form American lit from the late 19th to mid-20th centuries. Found some neat pdfs of old pulps as a result, but am curious - anyone ever come across any such stories set in our area?

Subquestion (because I think the response might be thin to such a narrow main question): anybody have any preferred short stories/folklore collections from the pine barrens and shore? Looking to add to my reading list before lazy summer days.

There is always Chris Oakley's story about the Frog farm, a very short story. I think Ben has it somewhere on this site.
