Today is the worse day of the year, and the evenings for the next 6 months are shot!

It stinks getting dark so early, doesn't it? Makes it hard to get much exploring time in!!

On the brighter side, Cedar and I managed a ten mile hike in the Pines today, and I found two different populations of Pine Barrens Gentians still in bloom and another site with silvery aster.

Lots of ticks around today, too, but the big spotted ones, not the deer ticks.

I haven't seen a tick in quite a while. I stopped checking for them which now may be premature. Oh Well.

I took Thursday off and my brother Jessica and I walked 3.7 miles near Warren Grove, and on Saturday Jessica and I walked 3 miles near Howardsville. As I have advanced in age I have some hip soreness after long walks. It goes away as soon as I stop walking, but it is annoying. Ten miles is a good hike and should put Cedar down for a while.

He slept the whole way home. Now if only I could do the same thing with the kids and hubby, I could take a long bubble bath to soak those weary muscles!
