Request to close Oyster Creek nuclear plant

New Jersey environmental groups such as The Sierra Club and the New Jersey Public Interest Research Group petitioned the NRC in 2005 to deny the 20-year license for Oyster Creek, the oldest of the nation's 104 nuclear plants.
The groups raised concerns about corrosion in Oyster Creek's steel containment shell surrounding the reactor and its nuclear core. The groups argued that these concerns were of particular importance in the wake of the nuclear emergency that struck Japan after this year's tsunami.

How do they know that there is rust in the containment building, and to what extent is it. these ultra liberal groups work around emotions, not facts. They would have the entire pinlands closed down except for them to check that no one goes in there.

If they don't have a controversy, they create one. Without it they are out of a job.

You guys don't have the all the facts. Corrosion in the bottom of those containers is well known and dates back many years. It is periodically ultrasonically tested to determine if the thickness is decreasing.

It is not a partisan thing, so don't assume so.
