I spent many of my early years hunting, fishing and exploring the region surrounding the reservoir and was always fascinated by what was revealed during periods of low water levels. It occurred even more often before the Monksville Reservoir was created just upstream of the Wanaque (flooding some of my favorite fly fishing stretches of the river!

This link is from a model railroad club, with more low water photos, focusing on the railroad that was re-aligned as a result of the reservoir creation:

This is a link on that page, for a map of the reservoir, noting the various man-made features that were covered by its creation.

It was hand-drawn by Louis West, who grew up, lived, and worked on the estate located within what is now Ringwood State Park. Among other duties, he ran the general store at the Longpond Ironworks site. I have a book he wrote on the area's history someplace in the growing mess I refer to as my library. I'm motivated to dig it out!
