Yeah, driving the limit on 539 is like taking your life in your own hands. People go crazy with speeding and passing on that road.
Been driving down to LBI a lot this summer, always take caranza>563>679>stage>route 9, avoids most the crazy idiots on 72/539/parkway. So glad I know roads to get around the tourist highways, 539 is a disaster waiting to happen.
Without the back roads I wouldn't go anywhere, especially during summer weekends. Sure hope they don't get closed.

I forgot to mention there is a motorcycle cop on 539 now. So be really careful. He had apparently ticketed a truck on one side of the road and parked on the other, As I came upon him he walked in front of me. He has the microphone hooked to his helmet and is fully decked out both bike and him.
The speeders don't give a hoot about no passing lanes. Get some law enforcement out there; plenty of good spots for an ambush. Nothing slows folks down like red and blue flashing lights. I only travel 539 a short distance to get onto Pasadena and even that is too much.
Always see a bunch of cops around the wawa on 539 and 70. But once you get past cedar Glen lakes or whatever it is on the right heading south no more cops and it's a free for all. One morning I was heading up 539 took a left with blinker on guy passed the car behind me and nearly took me out. The truck shook as he went past the tailgate.
