Scenic detour between New Egypt/Long Beach Island?

Hey all...I'm back checking in on my old stomping grounds! As some of you know I ended up moving further away from the pines (Hunterdon County) and don't get down there much anymore :( but recently I got the itch again because my wife and daughter are staying with parents on Long Beach Island for the week and my daggone job got in the way so I've been commuting back and forth. Last night we watched the fireworks across the bay from us in Tuckerton and I did get to spend a little time on the beach. To get to work I take 72 to 539 to 528 to 571, winding my way through the pines for a good chunk of the way of course. I did a lot of my pines exploring in Colliers Mills but I never went down much farther than that (Greenwood WMA, etc...). I was hoping maybe someone could tell me of a nice route/shortcut to take down a sandroad or two to break up the monotony of the 80 minute drive at some point? I've taken Hawkin Road between Colliers Mills Road and 539 before but it's not all that interesting. For a while you end up between the old missile base and Ft. Dix but that's about it. As an alternative I thought of cutting the corner of 539 and 72 and came up with these three possibilities I wanted to check in with Pine Barrens explorers more knowledgeable than I on two main points. First, are they all part of Greenwood WMA and/or public roads? I would guess that they are given that they are named on Google Maps. Second, does anyone know the conditions out there? I'm taking the family truckster SUV which does have 4WD (not AWD-true, stop-and-throw-it-into-4HI-or-4LO) and decent A/T tires, but I'm not looking for anything beyond ankle deep puddles. This is the wife's car so no "pines pinstriping" either ;) Let me know what you all think! It was nice to check and read some of the discussions of late.

Make sure that you stay on Hawkins Road when traveling past the Bomarc Base. If you are between 539 and Hawkins Road, especially near the fenced-in area , a ticket or tickets will be issued. The Joint Base has had enough with trespassers and scavengers entering the buildings. I was riding a friends enduro through the area and saw local police with a ranger by the warehouse type building, ticketing several people. The radiation signs aren't enough to warn them off I guess.
